About Shipping Lane Dahlias

My Story

My love for dahlias started in 2016 when I saw them in a good friend's garden. and once I discovered them, I was immediately hooked.

Today, my little farm has grown to include several 20 ft beds in addition to 80 grow bags. I have over 200 varieties spanning most dahlia types — with the waterlily being my personal favorite.

I'm vigilant about keeping virus and disease out of the garden. Each year, in early summer, my dahlias are inspected by the Washington State Department of Agriculture for any sign of disease and I pull any plants showing yellowing veins, wrinkled leaves, or other possible signs of virus.

If any plants are showing nutritional deficiency, a round of liquid fertilizer does the trick  and within a week, the plant is back to a beautiful, solid green.

I dig up all of my plants in the late fall and bleach between cuts while dividing the tubers.

I am truly a lover of these flowers. I want you to be successful with these beauties too. If you have any questions whatsoever, reach out through the website or email me at shippinglanedahlias@gmail.com —  Here's to a beautiful dahlia season ahead!
